I'm sorry, but the experience was a complete waste of everyone's time. The rep who came to my home to address my broken garage door opener insisted that I needed a 1hp opener to operate my 9-ft wide lightweight uninsulated single car garage door. For 25 years 1/2hp openers have easily operated both my garage doors. He said they don't even make 1/2hp openers anymore, which is total BS because if you look on Lowe's or Home Depot you will see hundreds of them. He told me I needed to replace my springs because they might break and fly through the back wall of my garage. He said one lady's broke and went through the drywall and wound up on her dining room table. Extremely unlikely since the springs are firmly anchored on both ends. He then quoted me a price of around $3,400 which is right at 10 times as much as I finally arranged with Home Depot for a 1/2hp opener plus installation, including tax.

I was charged over $400 for a repair that should have cost no more than $200. I’ve called and called and left messages for someone to call me back and explain but, to date, despite calling every day for a week there is no explanation.
